About Lupe Paints

My name is Maria Osorio. I was born in Chile and raised in Santiago, Mexico City, and the US. Since I was little I was always exposed to oil paintings. My grandma, who would take care of me during long weekends and school vacations, is an artist. She would always encourage me to grab her brushes and paint with her. I would sit with all the women that she taught during her weekly classes and paint my favorite animals.

I stopped painting after my family moved to Mexico, but during the pandemic my Grandma and I decided to paint together through WhatsApp every Monday to stay connected. Since then, I have rediscovered how much I enjoy painting, and have decided to share some of my paintings.

Lupe is the name of my cat, who always sits on my lap while I paint, and who adds endless amounts of hair to my paintings.

I love painting not only because I enjoy expressing myself through my colors and textures, but also because it makes me feel connected to my family and my Chilean roots.

I paint a little bit of everything, and I am still in the process of discovering my style. I love painting with oil and watercolor, and I find a lot of my inspiration from nature and my cats.
